Tooling and series production are separate decisions

Mould, parts, or both?

State whether you need a new mould, production from an existing mould, or a complete package. Ownership of the tool, its location and maintenance are agreed in writing.

Material and requirements

Specify the polymer, colour, surface finish, tolerances and any regulatory or food-contact requirements. These determine which manufacturers are relevant.

Portugal is known in Europe for its mould-making industry, concentrated around Marinha Grande and Oliveira de Azeméis, alongside injection moulders serving automotive, packaging, household and technical products. Tooling capability and series capacity differ from company to company; both are confirmed per project.

What we need to know

Do you have drawings or confidential material? Describe the need first. We agree how the documentation may be shared before contacting any potential supplier.

How it works, step by step

  1. Tell us what you need

Describe the product, approximate volumes and the delivery you have in mind. We confirm your key requirements and agree how the information may be shared.

  2. We search and confirm interest

I contact relevant Portuguese manufacturers and check interest, capacity and the conditions for your project. If no suitable match is found, you will hear it from me.

  3. You evaluate the options

When there is a possible match, I introduce you. The manufacturer confirms price, technical requirements and delivery terms. You evaluate the quotation and any samples.

  4. You agree the supply — I follow up

You and the manufacturer sign the agreement. The manufacturer invoices and delivers. I follow up the commercial dialogue, including ahead of repeat orders, within the scope contracted.

Terms agreed before work starts.

Scope, responsibilities and commercial terms are agreed before work starts. Depending on the assignment, Fractio may be paid through a project fee, an ongoing support fee or an agreed supplier commission. Any supplier-paid remuneration is disclosed before the relevant introduction. Submitting an enquiry does not create an order or a payment obligation.

You request quotations and order directly from the manufacturer. The manufacturer sets the price and is responsible for the agreed production, invoicing and delivery. Fractio coordinates the commercial work; roles and remuneration are agreed for each assignment.

Your enquiry is not an order. You decide whether to proceed after reviewing the proposal.

Frequently asked questions before a quotation

Who owns the mould?

Normally the buyer who pays for the tool, but this must be written into the agreement, together with where the mould is kept, who maintains it and what happens if production moves.

Can I get sample parts before series production?

Yes, usually from the first tool trials. Agree how samples are approved and how corrections to the tool are handled before the series order.

Do you handle food-contact or medical-grade plastics?

Enquiries for regulated applications are assessed with the manufacturer and the relevant specialists. Compliance documentation is provided by the manufacturer and verified by your team.
